How to Make Jamaican Curry Goat

The Huffington Post recently published an article saying that “goat meat could save our food system, but we’re too afraid to eat it.” We who? 😂

Goat meat is popular in many cultures — including the Caribbean — but I realize that not a lot of people are familiar with goat meat or mutton.

So today I’m inviting you into my humble kitchen to show you one popular way that goat is often eaten in Jamaica 🇯🇲: #currygoat. I talk about where to buy it and even show you how to clean it — as well as cook it of course. 😊

Ingredients:

4 lbs goat meat

4 tablespoons Jamaican curry seasoning

2 tsp salt

3 cloves garlic

1 onion, chopped

3 potatoes, chopped


Gluten-Free Fried Dumplings (aka Johnnycakes, Bakes)

Look what I made you guys!!!!  I’ve always loved having Jamaica’s national dish (ackee and saltfish) for breakfast, but I missed having fried dumplings.

Well, I’m happy to report that I went into my kitchen and I was successful in creating a fried dumpling recipe.  I’m just so happy about this discovery!

I was watching this clip from The Social this week and I was appalled:

Firstly, I’m a Millennial, and I sure ain’t scurred about handling raw meat.  In fact, I used to cut off the toenails of the raw chicken feet for my mother so she could make chicken foot soup.  Now that I live on my own, I pretty much manhandle my chicken.  I make my own meatballs by hand — I get all up in there.   So I get so tired and irritated when people talk about Millennials as if we are somehow an entitled, homogenous group that you have to handle with kid gloves.
