The Porridge Series: Jamaican Oats Porridge with Coconut Condensed “Milk” (Vegan, Gluten-Free)

I’ve been experimenting with different ways of making porridge, and I think I’m finally ready to share my recipes with you.  I present you with my “Porridge Series.”  Over the next few weeks or so, I will unveil a new porridge recipe. Jamaicans typically use the British appellation “porridge” when describing oatmeal, and so I’ve grown up…

Where to Buy The Ingredients I Use

By clicking any one of these images, you will be taken to the Amazon.ca page where you can order your own stuff and cook with me (and I get a little kickback too!).  Don’t worry — you will not be charged until you go through the actual process of buying the item on Amazon.

Another appropriate post for #familyday from the Holistic Psychologist Reposted from @the.holistic.psychologist - I made a choice to speak openly about my family for a reason. I spent a long time not understanding how unhealthy their dynamics were. We appeared like your typical happy unit. Even as a psychologist I wasn’t aware of how my ‘normal’ affected me, my relationships, and my world view. It was a painful discovery that rocked me emotionally. Every time I share my story a few people get uncomfortable, and I totally understand and respect that. We’re taught to honor our families and keep their secrets. We tell children ‘family is everything’ regardless of the actions within the family. That’s not something that resonates with me. Breaking patterns requires honesty, not blind adherence. I view them as good people with trauma and issues of their own. Doing the best they could. Living as they were modeled and teaching what they were taught. Unconsciously repeating cycles is at the root of all human behavior. The responsibility lies on me to awaken, not in them to change. But I still feel waves of shame and guilt for telling them I needed to walk away and heal. My conditioning runs deep. I made this post because I’ve worked with people for years who are struggling with this. My DMs are full questions like the ones above. People who are confused in their role with their parents, just like I was. My hope is that this reaches a person who’s in that hazy confusion #selfhealers #holistichealth #awakening #innerpeace #spirituality #mentalwellness #personaldevelopment #healing #healyourself - #regrann
